Since 2004, we have dedicated resources to ensure we yield maximum outcomes in our mining industry projects. Our 20 years’ partnership with Barloworld as the equipment supplier and maintainer has helped us succeed in delivering according to our client’s expectations and exceeding by being technologically advanced with our equipment.

We continually improve in service delivery and hold the acceptable standards of performance. Repeatedly training and inducting our human resource to be consistent in performance and outcomes. MGC mining boast a knowledgeable team of technicians, engineers, administration, production, mechanical and others who are committed to our vision and that of our partners.

MGC Partnership

Lesotho MGC Mining partner is Lets’eng Diamond Mine which is famous for its large, top quality diamonds, with the highest percentage of large (+10.8 carat) diamonds of any kimberlite mine, making it the highest dollar value per carat kimberlite diamond mine in the world.

Not only are Letšeng’s Diamonds the highest valued kimberlite diamonds in the world, but are also from one of the highest diamond mines in the world, at an altitude of over 3000 metres.’’ Lets’eng Diamonds started commercial production in 2004 processing 2.3Mtap, plant expansion completed in 2008 with processing capacity of 6.7Mtpa.

Our partnership with Lets’eng diamond mine began 2004 with a fleet comprising of highway trucks (15 tonnes). Presently, we have grown to 777(90 tonnes) investment circa 900Million/ 60 Million US Dollars. We operate 24hours of 365 days of a year at the altitude of 3000 meters above sea level, temperatures alternating from minus 24 to plus 25 degrees Celsius.

We have more than 1000 individuals with tremendous skills for mines upkeeps who each play a pivotal role to maximize production. MGC always takes precautions when it comes to occupational health and safety. The last time we had a lost time injury was in 2007 which is the world record that will keep by continually improving our health and safety measures.

Contributions To The Government

The mining companies are directly contributing to government through taxes and levies; PAYE,withholding tax, royalties, surface rental, dividends, CIT, etc.

There is further indirect contribution by contractors and service providers engaged in the mines.

Contribution made to government discus to date is around 10 billion Maloti.

Rough Diamond Trading and Sales

Over 80% of the global rough supply is traded through Antwerp, Lets’eng diamonds are sold in Antwerp via tenders.

Rough Diamond Cutting and Polishing

Cutting and polishing centres exist in certain countries, with major centres in Belgium, India, Israel and China.

Diamond Jewellery Manufacturing

The jewellery sector also deals in gold, other precious stones, silver, platinum and a range of other raw materials. Some of the larger diamond jewellery manufacturing centres exist in Asia (China, Chinese Taipei and Indonesia).
